The design of Nike KD 12 ‘Aunt Pearl’ continues the tradition that started with the KD 4 in 2012, to pay tribute to Kevin Durant’s beloved aunt. The sneaker, appeared in monochromatic pink as a nod to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, borrows multiple design details from previous ‘Aunt Pearl’ colorways. They include plush velvet fabrication from the KD 10, a winged midfoot strap from the KD 7, and a marbled outsole from the KD 11.
While the colorway n of this pair of shoes still composed almost entirely of bright pinks and smooth, clean whites, the pair ushers in more angelic themes as the strap along the lace unit bears feathers as if a floral-flushed set of wings. Underneath lies debossed text that embellishes in remembrance of Aunt Pearl similar to the typed hits along the velvet-constructed tongue and the graphics along the stained glass insole.
